How the conversion works
The converter uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, the calculated Hijri calendar used in Saudi Arabia. It is generated by the browser’s built-in internationalisation data, so no external service is called and the result is deterministic for the same input.
- A Hijri year is about 354 or 355 days, roughly 11 days shorter than a Gregorian year.
- Month lengths alternate between 29 and 30 days according to the calendar’s rules.
- If you enter a day that does not exist in that month, the converter tells you instead of guessing.

Questions people ask
Why does my local date differ by one day?
Umm al-Qura is a calculated calendar. Local sighting committees may announce the start of a month a day before or after it, especially for Ramadan and Eid.
Which years are supported?
The Hijri side accepts 1300–1600 AH, which covers roughly 1882–2174 CE. The Gregorian date picker accepts any date your browser supports within that range.
